Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar® is only a portion of a total property — Big Cedar® — the vision of Bass Pro Shops® founder John Morris. Since 1988, this elegant, rustic, all-season resort has been welcoming sportsmen, celebrities and thousands of people who love the Ozarks and classic accommodations in the wilderness.

Just a few years ago, Bluegreen was selected to create Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar® on a portion of the resort's 800 breathtaking acres. And for the past few years, Bluegreen owners have embraced what many call the premier Bluegreen resort, certainly a unique vacation destination where nature is at her very best, and the accommodations rival that perfection.

Picture a hunting lodge in the Adirondacks. Add in a view of sparkling lake or wooded hills with Ozark cedars, oaks and sugar maples reaching toward the sun. Hear the wind in the treetops and the sound of laughter carried up from the lake. Now you have a sense of the place. Step inside the lodge or any of the log cabins and admire vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, wood-planked floors and comfy hickory sapling furniture on cozy homespun rugs. The choices for adventure are virtually limitless, beginning with the resort's most popular water feature, an 875-foot lazy river — a work of art in stone, native plants and swirling blue water. Parents, children and grandparents agree that a lap or two through the sun-dappled lazy river course is a great way to enjoy a warm summer afternoon. When summer ends however, your time in the water doesn't need to. An indoor pool, children's pool and hot tub offer plenty of off-season fun. On the Lake
Whichever is your pleasure, it's time to hit the lake or the green. The bass are plentiful in the depths of the 43,000- acre Table Rock Lake. You can rent a boat, buy a one-day fishing permit or a license, rent a rod and head out; or take advantage of the professional fishing guide service that includes a boat, guide, fuel and oil, and fishing equipment. As the pros on the lake like to remind you, "fishing is fun; catching is better."

Other water-borne pastimes include party barging or waterskiing with boat rentals plus wakeboards, skis, tubes and kneeboards available at the Bent Hook Marina. Canoes and paddleboats are complimentary.

For the ultimate water experience, book a ride on the Goin' Jessi — a replica of a wooden Chris-Craft from the 1930s. The boat was named for Jessi Jennings, country singer Waylon Jenning's wife.

In the Saddle
Cedar Mountain Stables accommodates everyone. Pony rides for kids 10 and under, horseback rides through the woods, and carriage rides around the grounds mean that everyone from great-grandma on down can enjoy the scenery, cowboy-style. Saddle horses are smart and all trail rides are accompanied by seasoned horsemen (and women) who will ensure a safe adventure. Campfire wagon tours beneath the stars are available, too. These conclude with an iced sarsaparilla on warm evenings or a cup of hot chocolate on cold ones. Marshmallows roasted over the campfire and cowboy songs add up to an evening you'll always remember.
