Cool Off at Wakoola Springs: A New Pool Comes to The Fountains
If you thought Orlando couldn't get any cooler, think again. Bluegreen's The Fountains resort is getting a second pool just as cool as any water park and new villas, too.

At over 75,000 square feet, the new pool and surrounding areas will be the new focal point of The Fountains.Scheduled to open March 2008, the new pool area offers all the water slides and interactive play areas you would expect to find at a water park, just steps from your 2-bedroom villa. The water park, called Wakoola Springs, will include twisting, double slides, a zero-entry pool and plenty of water spouts and fountains for the kids to interact with. It will also offer cabanas for rent, beverage kiosks and a new poolside bar and grill.

Keeping with Orlando's tradition of theatrics, Wakoola Springs will have its own theme, and the names of the amenities and surrounding areas will reflect it. According to Bluegreen legend:

The double water slide at Wakoola Springs is surrounded by a serene pool and lush landscaping. The story of Wakoola Springs began when an ancient tribe discovered the area-full of natural springs and fountains-shortly after it emerged from the sea. They called the place wakoola, which means "the great spring" in the ancient tongue. Soon after settling at Wakoola Springs, they discovered what a colorful place it was. The water turned different colors because of the beautiful array of gems and stones at the spring's bottom. The tribe began to collect the stones, but things soon became worrisome. The tribal chief's daughter, Eve, discovered a neighboring tribe had followed them to the spring. They knew if the neighboring tribe discovered the gems were in the springs, there would be war and the springs would be destroyed. So the tribe left the springs but planned to return some day. They left a secret trail of gemstones so they could one day find their way back. The Ancient Ones never returned to Wakoola, but today, the springs are still there for people to enjoy the water and its beautiful colors-and maybe even to find a few gemstones of their own.

Wakoola Springs will feature a large, interactive water play area, cabana, hot tubs and a new bar and grill. At over 75,000 square feet, the new pool and surrounding areas will be the new focal point of the resort. The pool alone is over 20,000 square feet. The area also includes a new, small lake; promenade walkway; foot bridges; 2 hot tubs; fire pits and scenic overlooks.

A new check-in building is also under construction, along with new buildings adding several hundred additional villas. The new buildings are expected to open late in 2008.

Keep an eye out for future stories on Wakoola Springs and all the other improvements being added at The Fountains.
